| Diamond Aircraft Is Again
One Step Ahead
Diamond Aircraft Industries is pleased to announce the EASA certification
of the DA40 TDI Diamond Star with
the G1000 glass cockpit IFR (Instrument Flight Rules).
The DA40 TDI is not only
the most produced single-engine aircraft in serial production with a
diesel engine in General Aviation but also combines highest economical
standards with extremely modern avionics.
The two 10-inch displays in landscape format of the G1000 system certainly
count as the most eye-catching features in this cockpit. Flight relevant
information is integrated in a unique way and is displayed digitally
to ensure a good overview.
The TFT monitors boast XGA-resolution (1024x768) with a wide observation
angle and are readable even with direct sunlight. Even the standard
version contains a mode-s-transponder. Optionally ADF, DME and KAP 140
autopilot with and without altitude pre - select are available.
The new cockpit technology is coupled with a highly
modern composite airframe
, which guarantees aerodynamics
and maximum security standards on the highest level .
Common-rail diesel technology with
single-lever engine operation reduces the workload for the pilot.
The engine management is
conducted by the FADEC (Full
Authority Digital Engine Control), which checks all engine-relevant
functions like fuel-injection and propeller adjustment.
To set an example, the DA40 TDI
flies at a cruising speed of 100 kts with only 40% power setting (10.3
l/h). With traditional aircrafts this speed is only possible with a
power setting of 65%, but with considerably higher consumption values
while using cheaper fuel (either diesel or jet A1 fuel).
The technologies of the future are finally combined in one aircraft
- the DA40 TDI.
