HISTORY
From 1931 July 25th to 1940, when the Kadrilater region became part of Bulgaria, the Bucharest-Constanța-Balchik flights with Junkers F13 planes were the most successful of all LARES (Romanian Air Lines) flights. Only in the summer of 1931, 724 passengers and 1642 kg cargo were transported, following a daily schedule until September 15th.
In the 1930s, the Romanian Government implemented a program for supporting new domestic and international airlines operated by the state company and private operators, and ordered the construction of an impressive number of airports, thus giving the start to modern aviation.
The General Transport Masterplan, the Investment Program for Transport Infrastructure Development and the Large Infrastructure Operational Program, along with the efforts to join the Schengen area, are the beginning of a series of transformations aimed at adapting Romania’s strategy to the needs of contemporary aviation.
